SEND Town Hall: Shepshed

Getting the right support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is something my constituents care deeply about. It’s clear the current system isn’t working as it should, and too often families are left feeling let down.

The government has made some important changes recently — £1bn funding for high needs budgets, new specialist places, and family hubs that offer early support. But we know money alone won’t fix everything. We need wide-ranging change that brings real improvements to families’ lives.

This autumn, we expect to see a Schools White Paper setting out detailed plans. I want to hear your experiences, your concerns, and your ideas for how we can create a SEND system that helps every child thrive.

If you want your voice to be heard, join me for this ‘town hall’ meeting:

Friday 1st August, 3:30pm-5pm
Glenmore Centre, Thorpe Road, Shepshed LE12 9LU

The meeting is open to anyone who lives in my constituency (if you’re not sure, you can check here: Find My MP). Reserve your space online, or call 01509 351051.

Afterwards, I’ll gather everything we discuss and share it directly with Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, making sure your voices are part of the conversation as the new system is shaped.
