Vacancy: Constituency Assistant

I am looking for part-time Constituency Assistant to join my constituency office in Loughborough.

You will work alongside an established, friendly team to help me serve the people of Loughborough. You will take responsibility for organising regular Saturday coffee mornings, including creating letters or leaflets to send to local residents. You will attend these and other events on Saturdays (and occasional Fridays) across my constituency, helping to set up, handle queries from constituents and take photos and video footage for social media and press.

You will also help manage correspondence from constituents, and work with other team members to support my work in the constituency.

In addition to Saturday mornings, we will agree a working pattern for the rest of the week that suits the needs of my office and works for you, with some flexibility and the possibility of some working from home.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct policy research for constituent correspondence
  • Draft letters and emails, and help with constituency casework
  • Manage and triage inbound correspondence
  • Attend meetings, constituency engagements and surgeries, including Saturdays
  • Take photos and video footage for press and social media
  • Organise and publicise regular coffee mornings
  • Follow up invitations to meetings and events and help with diary management
  • Take inbound phone calls

Further details

  • Salary: £27,000 pro rata, for 24 hours per week
  • Working pattern: 4 hours on Saturday; attendance pattern for rest of the week to be agreed, with some flexibility
  • Location: hybrid; Loughborough and offsite within the constituency, with some home working
  • Security requirements: you will need to undergo security clearance to CTC level before starting work; this requires you to have lived in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years
  • Start: as soon as security clearance allows
